A Terrifying Experience

     Every time I see the news about the fire accident, I would feel very scared. I always think why so many people don’t care about their living environment and let the fire burn down their house. I remember when I was in elementary school, one night my house was on fire and that was a terrifying experience to me.

      I slept with my mom when I was a child. And I always closed the door when I was sleeping, otherwise I couldn’t sleep well. That night, my mom was woken up by a loud sound. She wanted to go outside to see where the sound came from. However, when she opened the door, the smoke rolled into our room. She was scared and woke me up immediately. I didn’t know what happened. My mom took me to go out hastily. And I can remember when I went out of the room, I couldn’t see anything but the heavy smoke and the water everywhere in the house. Finally, after we managed to run out of the house, mom and I just stood there, panicked, not knowing what to do.

      Then, the firefighters came to tell us the cause of the fire. It was because of the fish jar in the living room. There were too many electric wires in the same socket and it was too hot, so it burned. The firefighter also said that the smoke was poisonous, and if we hadn’t closed the door when we were sleeping, we might have been killed by the poisonous smoke. When I heard that, I felt very scared and cried. I couldn’t sleep that night. When I closed my eyes, I would remember what had happened at that night. That was a horrifying nightmare!

      When our friends and families heard about this event, they helped us a lot. They helped us to rebuild our house and buy new furniture. When I came back to our house, I felt very happy, but the incident still cast a shadow on my heart. Although I saw the white and clean wall, I still remembered that it had ever been blackened by the heavy smoke from the fierce flames. This event still comes back alive in my mind like it just happened yesterday.

      After the accident, I would treasure my life more and care about my living environment more. I also tell my friends that they should be careful about the electric wire and the socket. It is very important to remember that fire brings us comfort and convenience and it may bring us harm and disaster as well if we are not careful enough.
