The Biggest Stake

What could be the biggest stake in the world to you? Uncountable property, your exaggerated promises in the unknown future, or your expensive BMW? To me, the biggest gamble in the world must be the marriage, which not only will affect me a lot but also will influence most of my life; it could be ten years with all unforgettable happiness or sixty years with painful memory of my husband or even my children. It is impossible to foretell if my marriage life will be happy or not when the ring is put on my finger, neither can I foresee it from a crystal! Who can say that marriage is not like the biggest gamble in the world which you bet the rest of your life as the stake?

According to the recent report, more and more old couples get divorced since their spouses have concubines. “I lost it; I have lost everything in the world. How come? How come? At least we have been together for 40 years,” an old lady murmured to herself when the reporter interviewed her. As the reporter described, she lost the game and maybe she’d never get over from this painful experience for having no more tally. She is old, and she used to depend on her husband. As we can see, this old lady spent most of her life building her dream; however, she found she lost it when everything was too late…. I’m shocked when reading such sad news. Her counter was her youth, her hopeful dreams, and her life. She committed suicide a week later.

On the contrary, if God favors you and gives you a wonderful, reliable marriage, then you are the so-called “winner at marriage gambling,” since you have won a warm family, numerous happy days, and a dependable life! It is really an exciting game, because you will never know what is going to happen in the next inning. Unfortunately, people are changing at every moment; therefore, your life seems more exciting than the Wall Street in New York! You have to pay attention to it all the time and deal with it very carefully. What a hard gamble! You put your all-hearted concern to a person, just like putting all the money on one single number. Once you win, you get more than you can imagine; once you lose, you may not get the chance to stand up again.

When you give your hand to the bridegroom, you are actually giving the biggest stake to this Mr. Right. You will never know if he can be good to you as he is expected; however, you do have fifty percent to win. But once you try your best to play this game and pay attention to any possible chance for winning more, you will also be the big winner in the world.
