Three Types of Horror Movies I Have Ever Seen

I like to see horror movies, so I almost see a horror movie once every two weeks. I divided the horror movies which I have ever seen into three categories, with focuses on story-telling, sound effects, and the monsters in the movies. Different types of horror movies shock people in different ways. Each category has its attractions, and appeals to different audiences.

The first type, story-telling horror movies, is my favorite one. For example, Thailand horror movies belong to this type. It usually tells a story like real matters, and easily attracts audience to be involved in the horrible atmosphere, for example, stories about curse like Art of the Devil. I like to see it because it is reasonable and does have meaning.

The second type focuses on sound effects, and many American horror movies belong to this type. It mainly scares audience suddenly by scary music or sound effects, but it does not always have a ghost or a monster. It prefers to use strange phenomenon to create horror and suspense like presenting nerving music and abnormal situations. For example, a shadow appears at the back suddenly or something is moved by nobody. Most of the time the story in this type of movies is reasonable, and sometimes it is based on the true story like The Devil.

The last one focuses on monsters or ghosts. Many people like to see this type of horror movies because they think that horror movies must have monsters or ghosts. They may be scared or shocked by the appearing of a ghost or a monster suddenly. For instance, you always can see a ghost appear from the wall or anywhere in Japanese horror movies. One of such movies is The Ring. Although the ghost inside the movie is horrible and scary, I think it is meaningless and boring.

In conclusion, there are various types of horror movies. And people can choose to see the types they like according to their preferences or the feelings they want to get. We can experience different feelings by seeing different movies. Let’s enjoy our favorite horror movies.
