Is a Civil Servant an Ideal Job?

In my opinion, a civil servant is absolutely an ideal job. Thanks to the development of society, people are increasingly aware of the importance of a desirable job. It is no strange that people regard a civil servant as an ideal job. On the other hand, some people hold reverse attitudes toward it. As far as I am concerned, a civil servant is an ideal job for the following three reasons: steady salary and benefits package, time for staying with families, and parents’ satisfactions.

First of all, being a civil servant is an ideal job on the grounds that it offers a generous salary and benefits package. This job provides the workers abundant well-being and adequate insurances. While the economy fluctuates and the market has its ups and downs, a civil servant is often unaffected in terms of employment and wages. When others are confronted with financial challenges, civil servants are assured with a carefree future. In this aspect, it is undeniable that a civil servant is a perfect job. I am a person who prefers a stable life so this merit of being a government employee is very attractive to me.

Second, a civil servant can have the advantage to stay with family. There are a reasonable number of holidays for civil servants. Thus many of them have enough time to deal with trivial things of household. Children can be accompanied to develop good habits and character so that they can have good upbringing. So with respect of family life, a servant is an ideal job for most people.

Last but not least, being a civil servant makes parents satisfied. There is a phenomenon in Chinese culture called “yao mian zi,” which means vanity. In China, parents are proud of their children who are civil servants. They can talk to others about their successful children without any hesitation. Accordingly, a civil servant is a desirable job that can bring a family good reputation.

Nowadays, many people, especially college graduates, apply for civil servant positions because they want a good life.  Every year, there are lots of people rushing to take the very competitive civil servant examination. From my point of view, being a civil servant is a good job for its advantages overweigh its disadvantages.
