      I have come to Taipei from Kaohsiung for school for more than two years and currently have just started a new semester. But after moving to my new dorm room and living there for a week, I found some problem in my room. That is, ants keep appearing on the floor in my room. If they’re just on the ground, I can take it, but they come directly to my bed, so I can’t stand them anymore. Therefore, I have found some ways to kill the ants, which are keeping my places clean, using insecticides, and searching other solutions on the Internet.

     First, I keep my places as clean as possible. For instance, after eating food, I take the food waste to the trash can outside my room immediately. Also, I keep the floor clean and I don’t leave crumbs on the floor. When there is no food debris or stain on the floor, there are fewer ants. However, these ways cannot completely solve the problem.

     Thus, I tried to find another more effective way, which is to buy something that can eliminate ants. Therefore, I bought insecticides and killed the ants when they appeared. And when the insecticides were sprayed on the floor, the ants would not easily come out from their hole. In addition, I bought a thing that is poison for ants to eliminate the queen ant. But the effect of this poison is not fast enough because it depends on the ants to feed the other ants in the hole. So, it took several weeks to eliminate the entire ant population.

     The last way is to search the Internet for some flavors that ants hate to prevent their appearing. For example, I sprayed some flavors that ants hate like vinegar and lemon on the path they walked. Also, my mom told me to buy Mangling perfumed water because it has the most annoying smell for insects; spraying it on my bed was the most effective to prevent ants from coming to my bed. And in order to prevent ants from coming to eat my snacks, I put some dried coffee grounds in a bottle and put it near my snacks.

     After I used the above methods, the ants no longer walked up to my bed. And the poison that I bought to attract ants has deterred them from walking on the floor and the walls of the whole room because they had brought the poison back into their hole. And after I put coffee grounds next to my snacks, the ants no longer walk on my table. Thus, I think these methods are truly effective. If you are also troubled by ant problems, you can try my ways mentioned above. I believe that if these solutions are applied, ants will not appear again.
