Physical Punishment

Although physical punishment is abolished, we still see some news about physical punishment on television. Why do many teachers use physical punishment? Some experts oppose physical punishment but some people agree with it. They think physical punishment is useful for their children or students.

Some people think physical punishment is beneficial for their children or students. They think it can let them study harder than before. Thus, students may be better on their achievement and have a good future. Teachers and parents have a strong attitude because they think physical punishment is a good way to teach their children or students. According to statistics, there are eighty percent to ninety percent of teachers and parents that agree with physical punishment. They even hope physical punishment allowed in school again.

Some people think that they shouldn’t use physical punishment. They think it’s so cruel that many students’ spirits are harmed by physical punishment. My professor, who majors in education, argues that physical punishment should be abolished. He tells his own experience about physical punishment. He was hit on his head by his teacher before. It hurt his head a lot. Even now, he usually feels uncomfortable on his head. Perhaps it’s the consequence of the physical punishment in junior high school.

Given the harm it may inflict on children, I think we shouldn’t carry out physical punishment. Although physical punishment is useful for some children or students, it may still harm them mentally. We can use many ways to discipline our students and we don’t need to use to physical punishment. As to me, I will definitely not use physical punishment on my students.
