My Parents’ Education for Me

Katie Chen

In order to let me have a better future, my parents pay much attention to educating me. My father is a serious man and he is strict with me and has high hope for me. On the contrary, my mom gives me a relatively loose discipline. They have different ways to educate me in my homework, daily habit and my employment direction.

My parents hold different attitudes toward my schoolwork. When I studied in primary school, my father started to coach my homework every night. Even though my father always worked so late, he still taught my homework very seriously. But my mother often told me, “Just try your best to do it, and don’t make yourself too tired.” In the vacation, my father would find a teacher to coach my weak subjects, but my mom liked to take me out for traveling and she always said that girls should spend more time on broadening their horizon.

In my daily life, my father considered my security and he would ask me for all the contact information about my friends before I went out and urged me again and again to come back early. My mother always asked me to bring my friends home, and cooked some tasty food for us. When I went out to meet my friends, she would prepare some food to let me share with my friends. Apparently, my parents also have different requirements for my daily habit.

I am a college student now and I need to have a plan for my future and ascertain my employment direction in the future. But my parents gave me different directions for my career development. My father wanted me to be an English teacher, because he thought that being an English teacher can improve my English and bring up my spirit of innovation. Nevertheless, my mother wanted me to be an OL, for the reason that the Office Lady is very charming and that was her dream job. Although they have particular expectations for my future career, they still support the work I want to do.

In a word, my parents both want me to have a good life. Even though they have different views for my education and future, I am grateful for their devotion and effort to make me become a capable and useful person.
