Internet Classrooms vs. Traditional Classrooms

Nowadays, the Internet is very important to our living. It is not only a tool for collecting lots of information, but also a medium for interacting with people with any distance. Thus, we can see the Internet everywhere such as shopping websites, the security system, web conferencing, and so on. However, have you ever imagined learning through the Internet? I think it may be trendy to go to the Internet classroom. Learning is no longer limited in the traditional classroom.

First, the Internet classroom is convenient for students' learning! We don't need to spend time taking the transportation. For example, we need to spend two hours getting to Chinese Culture University by the MRT or the bus, even if we live in Taipei. However, if we learn through the Internet, we can save the time to do other things. Another benefit is raising efficiency. We can learn from the professors from different schools, and at the same time, we can use the Internet to find the information about our study. The Internet is like an assistant to help us learn, which doesn't mean we don't need to preview before going to the class.

Second, the Internet classroom is convenient for professors, too! They can give us a quiz without any paper, which can reduce the consumption of trees. At the same time, it may be easier for some teachers to make corrections or comments on student’s work on the computer. In this way, the professors can concentrate more on teaching. They don't need to care about students' behavior like eating, talking on the cell phone, or going to the toilet.

Finally, there are some weaknesses in learning in the Internet classroom. It may decrease our going out. Everybody can do anything at home through the Internet. It is not good for both our physical and mental health. Maybe we don't know who our classmates are even after a semester is over. Therefore, I think we should increase courses such as PE, team work or field trips to complement the deficiency of the Internet classroom.

In the end, it is obvious that the Internet exists in our living everywhere. Therefore, the Internet classroom must replace the traditional classroom some day. We should improve the disadvantage of the Internet classroom to develop our education well. I think it is a progress to use the Internet classroom widely in the future.
