Slippers in the Class?

In college, students don’t need to wear uniforms, so they can wear whatever they like to school. Also, teachers won’t care about what students wear on their feet. Students can wear boots, sandals, high-heeled shoes, and slippers. In hot summer, students like to wear slippers in the class. They think they are comfortable, cool, and convenient. In my opinion, students wearing slippers in the class is not suitable.

The first reason is wearing slippers in class gives people a bad impression. We will wear slippers when we buy something outside or stay at home. In formal occasions like interviews, we won’t wear slippers because wearing slippers will give the interviewer a bad impression. The interviewer may think you do not take it as a serious event if you are wearing slippers. Similarly, students wearing slippers to school gives teachers a bad impression. Teachers think you come to class for resting or eating.

The second reason is it is bad for your ankle. Wearing slippers when you are walking, it is easier for you to fall. I have a bad experience. One time, I wore slippers to the class. However, I stepped on water and fell. Unfortunately, I sprained my ankle. After that experience, I never wear slippers to school. Also, it is easy for you to sprain your ankle when you walk on the uneven road in slippers.

The last reason is that your feet have little protection in slippers. It really hurts if somebody steps on your feet when you wear slippers. Then, your toes will be wounded and swollen. Another drawback is the likeliness to be bitten by mosquitoes. When you wear slippers, it means there is more space where mosquitoes can bite you. You will feel that your feet are very itchy. Finally, you will regret to wear slippers in the class.

There are three reasons that I am against wearing slippers in the class. It leaves bad impression to others, is bad for your ankle, and has no protection for yourself. Some students may say, “In college, you can do whatever you want.” However, we can’t do everything we want in the “real” society. We still follow the rules in this community. Besides, teachers don’t like students’ wearing slippers in the class. To sum up, we should not wear slippers in the formal occasions even in the class.
