A Meaningful University Life

Connie

When I was a senior high school student, I always dreamed of entering the college. In my mind, I have an ideal and meaningful university life. The definition of “Meaningful University Life” is very different to everyone. If I ask the same question to my three friends, I will get three totally different answers. Like John, he will probably say, “The meaningful university life for me is sleeping in the class and playing computer games at night.” Mary will answer, “I think I will focus on my schoolwork and keep learning in my college life. The goal in my college life is to get into a good institute.” Annie will say, “To try everything with my best efforts in every aspect like schoolwork, activity and love.” And I will agree with what Annie says.

In schoolwork, Annie pays attention in the class. Besides, she finds some extra materials to increase her knowledge. She also joins the school’s lectures because she can learn the attitude from others’ experience. When classmates ask her for help, she always tries her best to help them. The ranking of grade is not so important to her. She doesn’t want to be number one in the class. She just cares what she learns in the class.

In activities, she joins the Student Association. In the group, she learns how to get along with members, plan activities, deal with problems, and be concerned about others. She gets the unique experience in every activity. The important thing is the whole process of the activity. For her, she learned how to be a good leader and told herself “Be a brave one.”

In love, she chooses one person to love in her college life. She wants to learn how to get along with a boy. The way to get together with a boy is very different from a girl. In the process, she learns how to respect each other, and be concerned about him, communicate with him and solve the quarrel problems. Love is an important part in her university life. She grows up and learns to be a mature and intelligent woman by learning. Also, she will understand how to be herself and love herself more.

My “Meaningful University Life” is to try everything with my best efforts in every aspect. Everyone has her/his explanation for “Meaningful University Life.” Some people think it as “doing nothing.” Others consider it as “doing everything.” For me, it is “keeping every part in balance.” If I want a meaningful college life, I should be engaged in it actively and not lose any part of it. “Meaningful College life” is keeping every part in balance for me. Even though I feel sad, depressed or unpleasant sometimes, I am glad that I have been in it.
