Losing a Friend

Samantha Huang

The event happened many years ago. It was in the summer when we were preparing for studying the second grade of the junior high. On the way home, my friend and I had an argument about some questions of the English course. And we did not know our friendship would be gone because of that argument.

At the beginning, I just wanted to explain the questions for her and let her understand what she did not realize in the class. After some moments, she became angry and said something bad. I was so shocked and became quiet.

We stopped talking with each other and went on our own way. We did not say anything on the whole way. From then on, we never chatted with each other again, even though we went home together. I was so confused why our friendship would have this big change. A few days later, she sent me a letter and told me that she might not go home with me for a while.

When I read that letter, I was very dejected and thought our friendship might never recover. Then, something surprising happened-my mom told me when she met her on the road, she told my mom that she thought I was not smarter than she. And I did not have the ability to teach her anything; she thought I was too arrogant. All the words hurt me a lot at that time and I did not understand why she would have this misunderstanding about me.

Although this event happened many years ago, I still can not forget it. And I have never connected with her anymore, even though we live nearby each other. Because of this experience about friendship, now, I will make friends more carefully than before.
