Video games can be classified into many categories. Video games are made to entertain all ages, genders and nationalities. Gamers can have different kinds of feelings and emotions when they play different kinds of games. I am going to classify the most popular kinds of video games, and analyze gamers’ preferences.

The first type is first-person shooting games. First-person shooting games are also known as FPS games. In the FPS games, gamers use the first-person perspective to take every action. Usually, the gamer will hold a gun or some other weapons to kill other gamers or NPC, the non-player character. In the real world, people aren’t legal to use a gun to kill someone, so some people think FPS games reduce their pressure because they can do violent things which they can’t do in the real life.

The second kind is role-playing games, in which players can take different roles, for instance, being an owner of a restaurant, a manager of a business company, or even an ancient king. In the role-playing games, gamers need to put themselves into the characters. When being a boss, gamers need to think about the profit and the strategies to manage the company. Role-playing games can let the gamers have different kinds of life experiences.

Last, one of the most popular games is party games. The party games are usually played by more than four people, and the main idea is to reach the goal through teamwork. Party games are suitable to play in many places, for example, parties, family gatherings and communities. Most party games are designed to be easy for new players to learn and are suitable for all ages. Party games can be great icebreakers and generate fun atmosphere in the social occasion.

Different kinds of games can make people have different feelings, and gamers can choose the games they want according to their preferences. Video games are great entertainments that can help people connect with others and satisfy people mentally.
