Luck or Opportunity?

What is luck? Everyone knows that opportunity is the chance to do or get something. Does that opportunity come from luck? Is that luck accidental or designed? In my opinion, instead of being completely accidental, luck is the combination of ninety percent of one’s efforts, seven percent of determination and three percent of coincidence.

“Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity,” said Oprah Winfrey, which means that luck is that you have prepared to meet the opportunity. In other words, the real luck is that you got the opportunity which you have already prepared for. However, if you do not know what kind of opportunity you want, you would not know how to get yourself prepared. As you set a goal and try your best to achieve it, you would know what kind of opportunity you want to meet. When you meet the opportunity you want and you have already prepared for it, you would succeed; I thought this is the meaning of Oprah Winfrey’s words. It is also the reason why I feel that the achievement comes from ninety percent of efforts.

Luck is not completely accidental. As the saying goes, “God helps those who help themselves”. Some said that opportunity is given to the person who is ready to get it. Benjamin Franklin also said that God helps those who help themselves. In my opinion, we must do the right things and keep trying to get achievement, and then the opportunity will be ours. The determination of achievement is one of those important key points to success. Therefore, getting the opportunity to success needs seven percent of determination.

I think that the coming of opportunity is incidental, which is a matter of pure “luck.” Because there are too many opportunities in our life; however, you will not know what kind of opportunity will come to you. If you can grab the right opportunity at the right moment, the chances that you become successful in your undertaking are rather high.

No matter whether the possibility of meeting the right opportunity is big or small, trying to be prepared is the only way to increase the possibility to meeting the opportunity and getting success.
