Internet Classrooms vs. Traditional Classrooms

With the advancement of technology, students are not restricted to the traditional classroom. They have another option which is the Internet classroom. Both kinds of classrooms have advantages and disadvantages, but the Internet classroom has become more and more popular. Nowadays, many people argue whether the Internet classroom or the traditional classroom is better. In my opinion, the Internet classroom is better because it has more advantages than the traditional classroom.

First, students can learn anytime and anywhere in the Internet classroom. It is very convenient that students can learn without the limitation of time. Students could turn on the computer and learn on the Internet after enough rest so that they would not sleep during the class and miss the contents. Those who live in a remote village can get information from the Internet. Instead of spending a lot of time taking the public transportation to school, they can learn at home or through the computer in the local school.

Second, the Internet classroom provides private interaction between the teacher and the student. Because the teacher cannot help every student in the large class, I think the Internet classroom is the better choice for giving students individual instruction. There are more private interaction between the teacher and the student, which is especially important for students who are too shy to ask teachers any questions, or feel embarrassed speaking in front of the classmates. They can send their questions to the teacher.

Third, the Internet classroom provides various resources. Teachers can upload course materials onto the Internet so that students can learn repeatedly from them; moreover, teachers can use the application which is easy for students to understand and communicate with students through the groupware in order to discuss and exchange opinions. In addition, Students can communicate with not only their classmates but also overseas students. There are many online learning websites which are free, and students can learn repeatedly on them and do not miss the important content.

Maybe some people would say that the traditional classroom is directed and practical, and it has more opportunity for developing the social skill. But in the Internet classroom learners can also communicate with others through the video dialogue and the groupware. Online communications are convenient, and learners can contact each other without the restriction of distance.

Due to the advantages mentioned above, I think the Internet classroom is the more suitable method for learning. It is unrestricted, convenient, and various. People can get information on the Internet, and they can learn at home or any place they like. The Internet has broken the school walls down and let people have more chances learning.
