The Mothers’ Jobs

Nina Huang

According to my observation, there are three kinds of mothers’ jobs. They are housewives, career women, and volunteers. I observe the job of my mother, my aunt, and my neighbor. Their jobs are quite different. Many women have jobs before they become mothers. However, after they have children, they are worried that they may lose their jobs. Maybe they will consider continuing working, quitting jobs, or doing volunteer work. There are many factors that affect their choices.

First, I want to talk about my mother. My mother is the most typical housewife that I have seen. She hasn’t had a job since I was born. Because she thought that she should foster her children by herself, she didn’t choose to work. After that, she took care of me with all her heart, and she couldn’t go everywhere she wanted to go. Beginning in the morning, she prepared the breakfast, and took me to the school. And then, she cleaned the house and did a lot of housework. In the afternoon, she picked me up and prepared the dinner. After dinner, she should keep a close watch on my homework. Last, she hastened me to sleep so that she could take a rest.

My aunt worked in a breakfast joint. She got up very early every day because she should prepare the foods before the customers came. She chose to work because she should share responsibility for her family. Although she couldn’t keep her children company completely, she worked hard for her children.

My neighbor, Mrs. Chen, lives next to our house. She took care of her children; besides, she did some meaningful things during her leisure time. Sometimes, she cleaned up the park with her friends. Sometimes, she directed the traffic when the elementary school students left school. On occasion, she announced some information to everyone. She did these things to make herself happy.

There are many factors that affect our choices. Whatever we want to do, think of the best way and just do it. Every job has its good points and bad points. We should do what is the best for ourselves and our family.
