Japanese Cuisine and Korean Cuisine

 Sylvia Yamada

Have you ever eaten the delicious dishes in two popular countries in Asia? Their music, cosmetics, and especially the cuisine are well liked by most people in the world. They are Japan and Korea. They use their special materials to make different cuisines. Take two famous foods for instance: the Kimchi and the fresh fish. These two kinds of cuisine have their own distinguishing features. I’ll introduce the different types of them in soup, rice, and noodles.

People in both of the countries like to drink soup, but their broths are totally different. There are lots of different broths in Japan such as soy sauce, spare-rib, miso and so on. Japanese like the miso soup the most. They always put fish, tofu, and some vegetables in the soup. On the other hand, although Korean people have Ginseng soup, they are used to eating Kimchi. So they always put Kimchi in the soup.

The staples of both Japan and Korea are rice. But they have different recipes. For instance, Japanese like to put fresh fish on the rice. It is called Sashimi. They eat Sashimi with wasabi and the miso soup or tea. The rice cuisine in Korea is called dolsot bibimbap. They put Kimchi, beef, and egg together. Particularly, the rice crust is the characteristic of the bibimbap.

Noodles are also popular in the two countries. Their textures are different. There are two kinds of noodles, Udon and Soba. Japanese people cook Udon with hot soup. Soba is very popular in summer. They take soba with ice and special sauce. In contrast with Japanese, Korean people like the chewy texture noodles, Xin ramen. We can eat it especially in Korean instant noodles. It is very different from Udon and Soba.

The locations of Japan and Korea are really close. Both of them have their own features in soup, rice, and noodles cuisine. I am really crazy about Japanese and Korean food. I think you will have the same feeling when you try these foods.
