What We Have Learned from Typhoon Morakot?

Beatrice Lai

We can’t neglect any typhoons no matter how they will affect Taiwan. In this year, the strong typhoon came and attacked people who lived in Taiwan on August the seventh. The weather reporter forecasted that the typhoon was slight, so everybody neglected it. However, it brought heavy rain, and the rain came down very fast at a short time. It made people lose a lot, including vegetables, houses, cars, even their families. It was an unforgettable experience to us. We have to remember this lesson firmly. In the future, we should prepare ahead of time if a typhoon comes. The kind of disaster can’t happen again. The actions we can take to prevent similar damage include cleaning the mud in the water reservoirs, planting more trees, curbing deforestation, and so on. We can’t look down on the power of Nature. Only if we take precautions carefully can we live safely.
