Work Exchange

       Work exchange has made me become a mature person. It was the first time that I left home for Taitung and tried something new. Cleaning the room, preparing the breakfast, and meeting new friends filled my life during the time in work exchange. Although learning to be independent during work exchange was difficult, it was a trip for me to escape from the city and indulge myself in something I enjoyed doing.

The major things we did were cleaning the room and preparing the breakfast. It was a funny experience that we used the airbrush to clean the windows. The airbrush was heavy and hard to control, but it could make the windows very clean. And we should wake up early to prepare breakfast for the guests. We prepared salad, fruits, and coffee, which seemed to be easy. But we should mind everything with great care. The coffee was brewed by the boss. It needs some technique. The boss told us coffee should be compact and taste well.

Meeting new friends filled up my life during the time in work exchange. My friends took us to a shop which sells natural desserts. The materials of the desserts were made by the shopkeeper. My friend told us the panna cottas were the hot dessert in the shop. And my friend also introduced papaya milk and popcorn chicken to us. They told us that we would not miss these foods when we stayed in Taitung.

     The landscape and the dessert made people feel comfortable. One day I rode the bike through the bike path. The landscape was beautiful. It was totally different from cityscape. The trees are tall and the grass field is green. Along the way, I found an ice cream shop which made ice cream with pulp. I chose one with strawberry and mulberry favor. It tasted sweet and sour. And I could not stop eating.

Two weeks of work exchange made me grow. I had to do many things by myself. With the experience, washing clothes, cutting fruits or locating places are easy for me now. I can do them well. In the beginning, it was so hard for me but after I got familiar with the work, everything has become easy to deal with. I think it is worth having this kind of experience for a second time.
