Life without Electronic Media

Esther Chung

Nowadays, electronic media are very important in our daily life. If we lost them, our life might become not only inconvenient but also boring. Some terrible things might happen if electronic media disappeared in our life. For example, we couldn’t send information fast, we would lose many entertainments, and we would get fewer resources.

We couldn’t send information fast if we didn’t use cell phones or computers. We are used to sending messages by email and cell phones. If we couldn’t use them, we would have to send letters with the help of postmen; however, sending messages by people is not as fast as electronic media. In the post office, postmen should classify the letters by themselves rather than the equipment, so it would take us much more time to get the letters; however, if we use email, we just click the mouse, and send the mail in a few seconds.

If we could not play computer games and games on the cell phone, we might feel bored, but if we can play them, our life might be more colorful. If we didn’t have any electronic entertainment, we could just play some simple games, such as pokers, board games, or dolls.

If we couldn’t use the Internet, we could only find information in the libraries. We couldn’t find many data on the Internet, and use many online dictionaries to help us with our studying or work. We would have to be like our teachers who went to libraries to find information when they were students because they didn’t have Wikipedia and Google when they were studying.

For many people, electronic media are becoming the core of their life. Cutting off them from their life almost means taking away their heart from their bodies. Many people think it’s not possible to get back to the ancient time any more.
