My Favorite Season

Ken Chang

There are four seasons in a year, including spring, summer, autumn, and winter, and my favorite season is the coldest one. Although the winter always makes me feel wintry and uncomfortable, I still love it. Maybe you would ask me why I adore the season, and I will tell you that I have two reasons.

One is that I can enjoy the chafing dish and the hot spring with my friends and family. The chafing dish is the best food and my favorite food in winter. It can not only make me feel warm, but also promote my relationship with my friends and family. Once when we studied in senior high school, my friends and I ate a chafing dish in the classroom. We were punished by our teacher because of violating the school regulations. Although we were punished by cleaning the schoolyard, the event had strengthened our friendship. It was such a good memory that my senior high friends and I even chatted about it every time when we held the class reunion.

The other reason is that there are many particular days in winter. For example, we can eat rice ball in the winter solstice, which means we age one more year. We celebrate the Christmas Day and have Christmas dinner with our best friends, welcome the new year on the last day with the countdown, and the most important, celebrate Chinese New Year with our family. On that day, I will receive red envelopes from my parents and grandparents. What a perfect day!

Everyone has his or her favorite season. Maybe some people like the season of spring because there is a special day, Valentine’s Day, in the spring; however, others may love other seasons. More often, people cannot decide resolutely which one is the best because there are many advantages and characteristics of each season. Although my loved season is winter, I still appreciate other seasons. Every season has its special features and unique beauty.
