Studying in My Home Country or Abroad

It’s an inevitable trend that more and more college graduates choose to go abroad to continue their further studying. When I considered about further studying, the first question occurred to me was that whether to study in my home country or not. Of course, studying locally has undefeatable advantages on cost and convenience, while studying abroad can widen my horizon and help me to find a better job in the future. Then which one should I choose?

First of all, the cost of studying in a local graduate school is much lower than that of studying abroad. As far as I know, the whole expense for studying in my home country equals to one-year fee for studying abroad. Since I have just graduated from college and haven’t made any money yet, I’d prefer to study in a local school.

In addition, I don’t need to leave my parents and friends if I study near home which would make me comfortable. As parents get older, it’s understandable that they’d like to be accompanied by me, their sweetheart. What’s more, everything is familiar to me. I don’t need to fit in foreign tastes, languages, and even the weather. Therefore, after having experienced the feeling of homesickness during the college, I’d prefer to study in my own nation.

On the other hand, living abroad for several years can widen my horizon and equip me with the knowledge that I can’t get at home. To be honest, the atmospheres in foreign countries are totally different from what I imagine. I have to truly experience foreign culture by myself and what I learn from it would make my life more colorful. I think, however, traveling is also a good way of gaining knowledge. Studying abroad allows me to travel within one country. By contrast, being a tourist enables me to travel as many countries as I like. Therefore, I’d prefer to study in a local school and take any chance to travel to as many foreign countries as I can.

Nowadays colleges in China are as good as most international colleges and they could help me find a good job as well. Instead of studying in an international college which is unknown, I would prefer to make efforts to get entrance to a famous college in my home country. Also, because studying abroad has become easier and easier, many companies don’t think highly of the applicants’ background of studying abroad any longer. What they focus on is ability. As long as I have ability, I’m confident enough to say that the great jobs await me to take. Under this circumstance, why would I choose to study abroad?

In a nutshell, no matter studying in my home country or studying abroad, the priority is studying. Since studying locally has more advantages and benefits than studying abroad, I’d prefer to study in a local graduate school and try my best to improve myself to be qualified for a great job. It should be a wise decision, isn’t it?
