My Best Friend

Mandy Chen

Friends are really important; they have a great influence on us. As a proverb goes, “A true friend is someone who gives you a hand and touches your heart.” I really agree with this proverb because I have such a friend, my best friend, Betty. When I was hopeless, she always stands behind me and supports me. She knows my thoughts and sometimes surprises me with her sweet behavior. I am lucky to have such a good friend who has that many advantages.

First, Betty has many advantages. Betty is very beautiful and outstanding; everybody thinks she is a babe. Her cute smile let others find her easily in the crowd. Due to her attractive appearance, almost every boy in our college desires to date with her. However, even though she is pretty, she is never proud of it. She is a kind and funny person; she always helps others when she has free time. Her characteristics attract others; for example: , she is independent, hard-working, funny, and assertive and so on, She has numerous merits so that I want to make friends with her.

Second, Betty always supports me. I remember once I was misunderstood, but Betty believed and stood up for me. Everyone was angry at me and they treated me worse and worse day after day; they destroyed my things, and mocked me every day. I cannot imagine what I would have been going through without Betty’s endorsement. She accompanied and supported me, like a lighthouse brightening my condition when I had been through a storm. She has had faith in me all the time. When my world was falling apart, and when there was no light to break the darkness, she was always there for me.

The most important reason why I appreciate my relationship with Betty is that, she is very considerate. I don’t have to say anything but Betty will know what I am thinking about. She can always perceive my point of view and does everything good for me. She would take care of me when I was sick, and said some interesting events to divert my attention. Due to my carelessness personality, she often reminds me many things.

I have thought that if I lost her what would happen? It is just like losing my limb, even though the wound would be healed by time but the loss cannot be repaired. She has given me all I need but I haven't given her anything. This condition disturbs me, and I hope I can change our relationship of giving and receiving. In order to be a person who is qualified to be her friend, I want to change all my shortcomings and try to accompany her whenever she needs me.
