I think that independence is important for becoming an adult. To become more independent is also one of the reasons for my studying abroad in Taiwan. I consider independence to be the minimum requirement to grow up. Therefore, I attach great importance to independence in college life.

If a person is not mentally independent, he or she will not be able to make decisions on his or her own. For example, when a friend quarrels with another, we have to look at the situation objectively. It is also important to have our own opinion. I don't think these can be done without independence. If one is not mentally independent, it will be difficult for him or her to make the right move when arguing with someone.

To be self-reliant, I have to manage my money myself. Many of my friends end up spending money quickly. I don't think they are independent. And now I have my parents provide me with my living expenses every month. I also work part-time from time to time. But I can't just buy what I want. I think money management is also important if I want to be financially independent.

In addition, we must think and act for ourselves what we have to do. Otherwise, we will not be able to do the right thing. And we can't think about the future without understanding ourselves, so we need to know more about ourselves. To do that, we need to be independent.

In conclusion, I am very conscious of independence. Being independent gives us more confidence in ourselves as we can get closer to be a good adult and handle things well. Above all, we need to be independent for ourselves, because it is important for us to be a self-reliant person.
