How to Make Rice Balls Soup with an Electric Pot

Sheena Yang

I have an electric pot in my dormitory but I never used it before. One day, my roommate and I tried to cook something with it. We searched the websites to find what dishes we could make with an electric pot. Then we found that we could make rice balls soup. The recipe is very simple; even my younger sister could follow it. Actually it was the best dish for the occasion because that day was Lantern Festival. The following are the steps for making the dish.

First, we should need some rice balls, sugar and water. We can buy ready-made rice balls in any supermarkets or convenience stores. Ready-made rice balls are very easy to get and have many different kinds of stuffing such as red beans, peanuts and sesame. I prefer putting all kinds of rice balls together.

Next, put a little water into the pot, and put another smaller pot into the electric pot. And then put into water about half of the pot. Now turn on the power and wait for the water to boil. About 15 minutes later, when the water is boiling, turn off the switch.

Finally, put all the rice balls and a little sugar into the boiling water and turn on the switch again. This time it only needs 5 to 8 minutes; then we can see our rice balls float on the top of the water, and the rice balls soup is ready. And the last step is to put rice balls soup into the bowl. Then it is done. It’s very easy to do, and we didn’t spend much doing it.

This is my first time using an electric pot and I don’t have many experiences in cooking. After I make this dish, I feel cooking is very interesting, so I want to buy some cooking books and learn how to cook by myself.
