The Story Behind

“Sometimes history can come across as a bunch of boring dates or a list of dead guys. That’s too bad, because history is packed with surprising stories of people doing amazing, brave, as well as pretty silly things.”— by someone on the Internet.  Everything must have a story behind it and the stories should be different. It can be poignant, arduous, or amusing.

Recently, I went to the community center for learning baking. Before teaching, the teacher always told us the story behind the cake. One of the stories that impressed me is the poignant story of Tiramisu. At World War II, a soldier’s wife wanted to bring a gift for her husband who was fighting at the battle. Although they were economically challenged, she added all the food together for making something special for his husband. When every soldier ate the food made by the soldier’s wife, they were homesick but filled with morale. Finally, Italy won the war, and Tiramisu won the repute. Nowadays, Tiramisu means “take me away” or “I love you.”

NBA is filled with arduous stories. Entering NBA is the dream of every basketball player. Recently, a famous player of Taiwanese ancestry called Jeremy Lin has been showing good performance. In his childhood, he underwent many difficulties on his favorite exercise--basketball. He practiced many times. In high school, he had good performance in the basketball team. Although he was discriminated against by white people sometimes, he proved himself by playing basketball. Graduating from high school, he entered Harvard and joined into the basketball team of Harvard. He had not only arduous story but also verified one thing—“Practice makes perfect.”

An amusing story always makes people smile. When we get together with our friends, we always do something hilarious. With the hilarious thing, some laughable noun will exist forever. If someone mentions it, our memory will be recalled, and everyone smiles. Once, I played mahjong with my friends, and my friend won by hua-hu. It is rare in mahjong. Although I lost much money, I was happy at that time. After this event, I have a nickname—hua-hu.

To sum up, behind everything there should be a story. No matter what story we have--poignant, arduous or amusing, it will be worthy for recalling. But the most interesting one I love is the amusing story. It will be funny and memorable. How about you?
