The Optimist

An optimist is a person who always has a positive attitude. I think this kind of people is happier than others. I am also one of this kind of people. In my opinion, the optimist tends to forget the unhappy experience, see the bright side of issues, and have strong-willed personality.

First of all, the optimist tends to forget the unpleasant experience. This kind of people holds a belief of optimism. He or she does not dwell on the bad thing in the past. On the contrary, he or she is likely to think of the future. Tomorrow must be better than yesterday. I do not feel regret about what I did and just do my best for the future. Therefore, I find that I have become happier since I do not live with the shadow of my bitter memory.

The second characteristic of an optimist is that he or she tends to see the bright side of a matter. It means that the optimist has a positive attitude. Also, he or she is more confident and cheerful when facing the challenge. Winston Churchill once said, “An optimist sees an opportunity in every calamity; a pessimist sees a calamity in every opportunity.” It is helpful for everyone to have positive thinking because the power of it must bring them strength and change. Looking on the bright side of issues is really beneficial to us. It may also encourage or influence other people to have an optimistic outlook on life.

Finally, optimists usually have strong-willed personality. Pessimists are often weighed down by the stress of bad things so they may feel hopeless and get angry easily. I think the optimists usually stay positive. As long as they keep a positive thinking during their tough time, they will be resilient and solve problems eventually. If they have a strong sense of what they should do, they will not be led by other people easily. Besides, they will not do something stupid like committing suicides when they feel sad or helpless. Take myself for example. Death of my father was a big shock to me ten years ago. I couldn't believe the bad news in the moment. I imagined everyone was only kidding until I saw Father's body; then, I cried. But I wiped my tears away after a while. I was stunned by seeing all people cry. Although they gave me comfort, they did not understand my feelings. I found I lost my world, my father. In the years, I remained very painful. But thanks to my mother's and friends' support, I became brave and strong-willed. And I realize that I can have a wonderful life if I choose to smile and be optimistic.

In conclusion, the optimists leave bad things behind, look at the good side of things, and have a strong will. Every time when I feel sad or hopeless, I always tell myself that I can make it. And everything is possible as long as I try my best. Optimism really leads me to peacefulness. And it makes me hopeful, too.
