A Part-time Job

Patrice Wang

A few weeks ago, I read a report that said six out of ten college students in Taiwan have part-time jobs. The report was so incredible, and I had a lot of questions, because I don’t think those college students can find a balance between their jobs and their lessons.

After school, the part-time student workers have to run to their place of job immediately. Therefore, they have no time to discuss their homework with their classmates or ask their teachers of the matters that they don’t understand. In the end, they have to spend much more time studying by themselves.

Second, they work for long hours, so it may let them lose a lot of friends who can help them to do their homework. To make things worse, they can’t find anyone who can work with them, because they are too busy to make friends and join the activities of college.

The last, they are just students, so Studying is the most important thing that they should do. When they spend their whole time working and earning money, they really lose a lot of things in their college life.

Knowledge is power. If they want to learn many things, they should always remember this proverb. I also had a part-time job, but I quit. Because I couldn’t do anything else in addition to my job, I really regretted to have spent a lot of time on it. I got a lot of bad scores last semester; therefore, I decided not to work before I graduate from the college, no matter how poor I am. I think if I don’t study hard now, I won’t get a good job in the future, even though I can do many jobs now.
