Luck or Opportunity?

I agree that both luck and opportunity are necessary in our life journey. These two are not in our control. What we can do is being well prepared. Once the chance shows up, we grab it. Unfortunately, many people do not have themselves prepared. Despair, obstacle, and time are killing our hope for the opportunity

The first hope killer is despair. People usually don't think they are lucky for the chance of the lifetime. If people have hope, they will not give up their dreams easily. No matter how many failures they experience, they are not overwhelmed by despair. By contrast, hopeless people could have an abandoned life. They don’t look for chances by themselves or think that they deserve the lucky opportunity, so they don't positively learn and improve their abilities while they are in obscurity.

The second killer to our hope is the obstacle. Nothing is easy. We are likely to encounter obstacles every time we want to improve ourselves. "The wall of obstacle is not there to stop us from our goals. It shows us how much desire we want to achieve the goals. The wall blocks people who don't have that much passion. Its existence is for those who truly long for the goals," Randy Pausch, a professor, said. Persistence is what we need to learn.

The third killer is time. Recently, a bank's commercial has impressed me. It talks about a group of elders who are at the average age of 81 traveling around Taiwan by riding the motorcycles. The commercial is based on the true story. When most people consider that it is too late or it is inappropriate due to the health condition, the elderly haven’t given up their dreams they are pursuing. They conquered physical pain, illness, and overcame the limitation of age. The true story teaches me to pursue dreams no matter how old I am. Otherwise, I will regret.

When we think that we are too old to fulfill our dreams or there won't be any lucky chance because the time we have been waiting is long, the commercial is our reminder. Maybe the chance doesn't come at the time we wish for, and we have no idea when it appears. However, we should get ourselves ready when it comes.
