College Education Is Necessary

After students graduate from high school, most of them think they have learned a lot during the past several school years. They don’t want to enter college and bear so much homework and research any more. They desire to see the outside world and enjoy the life they called “the real life.” Nowadays, such thoughts have spread quickly. However, in my opinion, college education is necessary.

First, college is a time for students to master the methods of handling difficulties. Some students hold the opinion that the knowledge learned from college is useless. It’s only partially true. It is not what students learn but the ability they develop and the methods of learning they become skillful at that matter. When students graduate from college and work in a company, no one would teach them how to plan an activity or give a presentation. But the methods they have learned in college can help them deal with their work smartly and even accomplish it satisfactorily.

Second, college is an appropriate place for students to make mistakes and grow up. In college, students have less homework and have more spare time to join in different activities. Sometimes, they have the chance to plan an activity by themselves. They have thousands of times to try everything they are interested in. Even if they fail, they still have many chances to try again and again. However, when people make mistakes at work, few would be given the chance to redo their work and right their wrong. They may be dismissed and lose their job. Making mistakes is an essential step in the process of growing up, and college is the best place for students to learn from the mistakes.

Third, college is a relatively mild place where students can observe some phenomena which are similar to those in society. Some students want to discontinue their studies after they graduate from high school. They want to be someone like Steve Jobs. However, they never think that such men are just the exceptions and most people cannot have the extraordinary achievement or opportunity like them. Before students enter the society, they still have to learn how to get along with people and handle various interpersonal relationships. College is a mild and safe place for them to learn these things. College students are innocent and simple. They don’t consider much about money and profits. Compared to people in society, college students talk more about dreams. They devote more time to their dreams but not profits. So, college is quite a mild place for students to have a little taste of the real life and the society.

In conclusion, college is not just several buildings for doing research. It is also the real best place to cultivate a really excellent student, even an outstanding adult. Students should not indulge themselves in the fancy world and too many distracting entertainments. They should do the right thing in the right time. During the time in college they should study hard, not shirking thinking about the future and working hard for it. It is quite necessary for a young adult to receive college education and become a well rounded and professionally competent person before getting into the real society.
