The Necessity for Students to Attend Classes

According to a recent survey, about 60﹪of students think it is meaningless to force students to attend classes while approximately 35﹪of students think that it is necessary to make rules to make sure none of the students is absent from their daily courses. In my opinion, although studying in university is no longer as strict as that in high schools, it is still necessary and meaningful to require students to attend classes as this kind of rules can assure the quality of learning.

First of all, students can absorb knowledge from the professors in class. No one can deny that professors are those who are knowledgeable and specialized in the particular fields. Students can learn more from the professors by asking questions directly. They can also accumulate knowledge by taking notes and concluding main points from the classes. With the help of professors, students will no longer be confused by abstruse articles or abstract explanations from textbooks.

What’s more, it is students’ duty to attend classes. Students’ not attending classes without special reasons is disrespectful to the professors. Students are allowed to be absent from their courses when they are sick or have some emergency to deal with, but there is no reason for their absence just because they are tired or have negative moods. If a student is absent for too many of his courses, how can one be certain that he won’t be absent from his jobs in the future? Bad habits should be stopped when students are still in the universities.

Last but not the least, the parents of the students have paid the tuition fee which should not be wasted. I believe that most of our parents wish us to make full use of the materials and facilities offered by the university to learn more and become useful people. As we are growing up, we should become more and morematureand try to equip ourselves with knowledge and skills. Only by attending each class and following the guidance and advice of the professor can we make best use of the resources offered by the universities.

All in all, there is no reason for students to be absent, as by attending classes, they can learn from their professors directly and efficiently, fulfill they duties as students, and make the best use of the resources of their universities.
