Differences between Senior High Private Schools and Public High Schools

 Linda Peng

Nowadays, there are many schools in Taiwan, hence people have many choices for the school that suits them best. Private and public high schools have lots of differences, such as in costs, qualities of education, and performances of students. However, both of them have their advantages and disadvantage, and it depends on one’s own preferences and choices.

Generally speaking, it is much cheaper to attend a public high school than a private one. For example, tuition for a private high school cost around NT$ 50,000 per year. But in the public high school, the tuition cost almost NT$ 20,000 per year. Both of them still have other costs, like cafeteria food services, textbooks and maybe the medical services.

In private high schools, student may need to stay in school for long hours. Some of them even have nighttime study hours, and teachers have to supervise the students with their studies. In contrast, public schools are not so strict. Students may not need to stay in school at night. On the other hand, some of the teaching equipment of private schools is better than that of the public school. They have the air-conditioner, of course have the terms. That is because their tuition expense so much. In contrast, the public schools are not so strict. Students are not necessary to stay in the night. On time to finish classes.

In public schools, students need always spontaneous study because of teacher will not oversee. So if student can’t control themselves, their grade may descend. However, in the private schools, teacher who superintend not only had one. Students most time will stay in the school.

No matter private or public high school, both private and public schools have their advantages and disadvantages. It is up to your own preferences and choice.
