CPR Changed My Life

Do you know CPR? Maybe you just know from the textbook that CPR is an emergency helping. For me, CPR changed my life while I was a high school student. I would never forget the power of CPR, which can really save a life.

I learned CPR in the nursing class of the high school. The teacher gave us a test after teaching to make sure we were all familiarized with the steps. Two weeks later, I went to school as usual. Suddenly, I heard a big, long noise by the car’s tires and then someone was hit by the car and fell in front of the car. It was a terrible thing to see. People got together quickly near the victim. But no one wanted to check the victim to see if he could be moved or called the 119 for help. Everything became slow and quiet. I stood near the victim and wanted to figure out something to help. The procedure of CPR popped up in my mind immediately.

I got close to the victim and asked if he could hear my voice, which was to make sure if the victim had any feeling. Before the step, I asked a lady in a red shirt to call 119 and a fat, old man to control the crowd. Then I bowed my head to the victim’s nose and mouth to check whether he was breathing. Seeing the man has no breathing, I held up his head to make sure his throat was not blocked so that I could give the victim some fresh air. After doing this two times, there was still no reaction in the victim. I put my hands on his upper body and pressed it fifteen times and gave him artificial respiration two times. The cycle kept moving on until the ambulance arrived.

Fortunately, the victim was alive and got good care in the hospital. It is an unbelievable experience for me. I saved a person’s life with CPR. No wonder CPR must be taught in high school and college. The incident has changed my view and makes me cherish my life more.
