Living in the Big City or Staying in the Village

Zack Wang

I come from Macau, which is a big city in Asia. I never saw a village when I was living in Macau because Macau does not have any village. After I came to Taiwan, I got to know what a village is when I was traveling in Changhua. On this trip, I felt comfortable because I stayed in a village. And I wonder which one is better and what benefits each living style provides?

In Macau, I feel everything is very convenient. I can easily buy everything in Macau, such as battery, foods, and drinks. When I lack something, I can buy it at any time. In Macau, everyone lives in a highly efficient way and we walk fast in the street and quickly do anything even at home. I think convenience and efficiency are the features of Macau.

On the other hand, I felt comfortable when I was staying in the village. I first visited the village when I was 19 years old. This experience is unique because when I arrived in Changhua and stepped out of the car, I felt cozy and my pressure disappeared immediately. I think this is an amazing moment in my life, and I have never had this kind of feeling before. When I lived in Macau, every time I stepped out of the bus, I felt the pressure was surrounding me. This trip to a village has become a very special experience in my life.

In the end, I think these two living styles have benefits, as well as disadvantages. I walked fast and couldn’t feel relaxed when I stayed in Macau. On the other hand, I couldn’t easily buy anything in anytime when I stayed in a village. However, we cannot say which one is better because every person has his or her own preferences and needs. Still, I think that living in the big city is better for me because I am used to the convenient living style more than the simple living style. Although I felt comfortable and relaxed when I was staying in the village, I think I am more suitable for the big city living style.
