The Only Child in the Family

I am the only child in my family. Although many people admire that I am the only child, I still want to have a brother or sister. There are many benefits and disadvantages about the only child and they have effects on the only child’s personality. I am the best example.
When I was little, my parents take care of me very much. If I cried, they would ask me soon what happened and give me candies to let me calm down. All of my family love me very much, especially my dad. When I told him what I wanted, he would buy it for me. He was just like Santa Claus to satisfy all of my wishes. Many of my friends envied me because my parents would say yes to everything I asked for.
However, although I get everything, I feel lonely. Both of my parents are very busy. So when I go home after school, there is nobody in the house but myself. There is nobody to talk to me and nobody to play with me. I can just talk to myself and play with myself. And because I am the only child, my parents give me big pressure about school work. They hope that I can get good grades at the school. They are very serious about my studying.
I remember when I went to school the first time, I cried out loud and told my mom that I wanted to go home. Because that was my first time to contact people who were the same age with me. I am very afraid and shy because I don’t know how to talk with strangers, so I really can’t adapt to the school life. However, because I always stay alone, I am independent. Many of my friends told me that when they first met me, they thought I was very mean and cold. But actually I am easy going and I just need more time to understand the people around me.
When I was little, I always dreamt that I could have a brother or a sister. But now, I think to have a brother and a sister or not is not very important because I have many friends. I can’t decide my birth order, so I decide to enjoy being myself as an only child.
