Why Do Electric Vehicles Become More Popular Nowadays?

Nowadays, electric vehicles, such as electric scooters and electric cars, are getting more popular these days. More and more automotive companies started to invent different kinds of electric vehicles with a view to not only do some contributions to the environments but also make some money at the same time. However, although electric vehicles have been around on the market for quite a long time, they never become popular until recently. Why do electric vehicles become more popular nowadays? In my opinion, there are three factors that make this decades-old concept become the popular products.

The first factor is the rising environmental awareness of customers. Many people believe that electric vehicles are more environmentally friendly than traditional combustion engine vehicles because no harmful gas will be produced by electric vehicles. As the global warming and the air pollution issue worsen, instead of buying traditional combustion engine vehicles, more and more people have decided to purchase electric vehicles in order to make contribution to our mother earth. As a result, more and more electric vehicles are expected to be seen on the street in the future.

The second factor is the improvement of battery technology. As the capacity and durability of batteries has become bigger and longer, the mileage of electric vehicles has dramatically improved within the current decades. In the past, one of the biggest concerns about buying electric vehicles for customers is the capacity of the battery. Most of the electric vehicles can't run for a long distance after being fully charged. However, with the improved battery technology, some electric vehicles can actually run longer than traditional combustion engine vehicles. Therefore, the improvement of battery technology is one of the biggest factors that make people willing to buy electric vehicles.

The unpredictable oil price is also another important factor which contributes to the expanding population of electric vehicles. For people who use combustion engine car as daily commuter, unpredictable oil price will be an unpredictable expense in one's life. By switching from gasoline to electricity, people can easily control their commute expenses by calculating the rather stable electricity price charging the vehicles. The predictability of the electricity price is a significant factor that attracts people to buy electric vehicles.

Even though there is still a long way to go for everyone to buy electric vehicles, the population of electric vehicles has risen within the current decades. In my opinion, the three factors mentioned above are the most important reasons why more and more people are switching from using gasoline to using electricity as the energy resources for vehicles. I believe that electric vehicles will be the mainstream transportation in the near future.
