Luck or Opportunity?

Without doubt, we all know that we won't succeed if we refuse to work hard. As an old saying goes, no pain no gain. It seems that most of us consider that as we try our best, we will be successful.

In my opinion, we shall both work hard and to be lucky if we want to succeed. As we know, many people try their level best to achieve success but some of them just are not that lucky to have the chance to get the opportunity. So I totally agree with the quote, "Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity." When I studied in high school, one of my classmates, Amber, was a hard-working student. She tried her best to make everything perfect. One day, it was announced that she was qualified to take part in a speech competition. She really tried her best no matter on the preparation before the competition or during the competition. But she still failed in the end. Those judges told her that she was perfect but another person was as good as she. So they determined to cast lots to decide who the winner was. Unfortunately, the other competitor drew the winning lot. So Amber was failed. This is a good example of the quote, "Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity."

Being a lucky person is a wonderful and cheerful thing for many people but it can only be met by chance, not by force. Perhaps all that we can do is trying our best to get ready for any opportunities. That is more realistic and down-to-earth. If we are well-prepared, maybe we can have more opportunity to be lucky and then become successful!
