A Healthy Change

Jean Huang

I am a college student, staying up late or eating strong flavored food is the common situation. However, a friend who gets Liver Disease told me that we should take care of our body more carefully than old people.

First, we should be early to bed and early to rise. It’s a difficult thing for college students; staying up late is very common among college students. After two years in college, I can feel my resistance and immunity decrease. It is not good news! I went to bed at twelve at night, and got up at seven in the morning. After two months, I could feel I was able to concentrate on class easily.

The next step is eating healthier food. The instant noodle is cheap and delicious; eating it is the thrifty way for college students. A study shows that it takes our digestive system three weeks to digest one package of instant noodles. What a terrible fact! I used to eat two packages in one week. After reading this investigation report, I stopped this bad habit. Eating natural food such as vegetables, rice or noodles and something with protein in it, I became not only healthier but also lighter than before.

The last step is drinking at least two bottles of water every day. Many people like drinking sweet drinks; few people like water. If you absorb too much sugar, you may get diabetes. I forced myself to drink two bottles of water a day. My skin became smooth and I had no desire to drink sweet drinks anymore.

We always think taking care of our body is the job when we are old, but some disease happens in the summer of life. We should build our knowledge about health at young age; then we can avoid the sickness easily.
