The Negative Effects of the Internet on Young People

In our society, the Internet plays an important role in most people’s daily life. Young people are also deeply influenced by the Internet. Despite the fact that the Internet brings people convenience on many aspects, it also causes many problems to people and the society. The negative effects on young people mainly include degeneration of eyes, the erroneous information, and problems about laws.

The first negative effect is degeneration of eyes because young people always spend a long time on the Internet. They always forget to take a break for their eyes when they are playing games or watching movies on the computer. They stare at the screen for a long time, which causes their eyes to degenerate day by day.

Second, young people may get bad or erroneous information on the Internet. The environment of the Internet is complicated and changeable, so sometimes they don’t know if the information they get is good or bad. They need to judge by themselves and choose the information they want to get carefully. Many people are always influenced by the bad behaviors or ideas spread on the Internet.

The last bad effect is the problems about laws. Because the environment of the Internet is open and dangerous, some people always want to do some bad things to get benefits from other people. The information on the Internet is not clear and sometimes lacks credibility, so many people are cheated when they don’t understand other people’s background and hidden intention. These cases include cheating about products, money, affection or others.

In a word, people should spend time on the Internet properly, and get the good knowledge on the Internet, not bad information. Also, people need to learn to protect themselves in the complicated environment of the Internet. They should make the Internet work for them, and get the biggest benefits from it.
