Why Friendship Sometimes Dies

“Without friends no one would choose to live, though he had all other goods.” Friendship is an integral part of a person’s life. Some friendships last in a lifetime while others burn out after just a few years or months. It seems unavoidable that friendships do not last forever. There are many causes for the end of friendship: quarrels, having a love affair or a lack of communication.

First of all, the most common thing that causes friendship to end is the quarrel. If two friends fight and do not fix up or cannot forgive each other, there is no reason to be friends anymore. It is easy to be friends, but hard to remain friends. The real friendship is believing and accepting each other simply unconditionally.

On the other hand, having a love affair may also be a reason why friendship dies. In this situation we are forced to decide which relationship would have priority. No matter we choose the lover or the friend, it is hard to balance these two relationships properly. Thus, the one who cannot figure out this complicated situation would likely to sacrifice the friendship eventually.

Lastly, lack of communication is also one of the reasons why friendship deceases. If one never calls or e-mails his friend, the friendship would ultimately fade and die. This kind of situation happens commonly after graduation. Busy schedules can also cause friendships to end. It is hard to spend time with a friend who is busy for school, work, or other activities.

Whenever I lose a friend, I feel depressed without a doubt. On the other hand, sometimes we lose friends in order to make changes and meet new friends. Friends come and go in our life, and no matter how long they are with us, they all leave some unforgettable marks in our life.
