My Favorite Types of Novel

Nydia Liu

I was the only kid in my home and no one could accompany me when I was little. Naturally reading became the thing I did often because it could be done only by myself. Novels give me another world to soar in and travel. Romance, motivational novels and adventure are three types of novel I always read.

I love to read love stories of different countries. In the story I can see pebbles on the street, houses standing on the road, weather of the day, even where the wind blows. It introduces me the people, the culture and the love of that country by the words. In the story I am an outsider but involved in the plot, loving and hating someone with the character together.

When I feel down I would like to read motivational novels, which gives me strength to carry on. For example, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail. It is a real story talking about courage. The author was born in a broken family; their father left them when she was 6 and their mother died at her 22. Because of the painful sadness she lost herself in drugs. Four years later, she divorced with her husband. When everything was ruined, she was heartbroken. She needed someplace to banish herself. She went to the wild, hilltops of mountains, jungles, etc. And she went back with her courage to accept the situation and keep going on.

In my heart the first rank type is the adventure novel. Adventure novels give me a totally illusory world to escape from the realistic world.Sometimes I feel under pressure and I need to take a rest. During that time, I will dig into adventure novels. In the world of the novels I take risks with characters, laugh with something funny, and get touched by the story. When I finished reading a novel, I felt like that I had thrown away all the annoying and difficult things.

Finally, I will say that reading has not only been a hobby but also improved my speed of writing and reading.Reading canincrease myknowledge and extensive reading can broaden my horizon. It’s an enjoyable activity that has benefited me in many ways.
