The Process of Piano Learning

Carina Chen

There is much feeling of affinity between piano and me. Though I learn to play the piano intermittently, I still enjoy every moment of playing the piano.

One day when I went home, I opened the door and saw a piano stand in front of me. I was so excited for having a piano. The next day, my mother took me to a piano professor’s house. She said goodbye to me after she said something to the professor. Then, it started the hard days for me, a kindergartner. I envied other children who could go out for fun after school, but I had to go to the piano class. I detested playing the piano, so I told Mom that I didn’t want to learn to play the piano.

My mother once asked me whether I wanted to continue to learn to play the piano or not? I said yes. Then, I kept going to my piano class with a pleasant mood every time. I enjoyed playing the piano. When I felt tired, I always played the piano to relax myself. Sometimes I also got into some perplexity. But I loved to overcome problems. And I have passed the sixth level examination in this time. That was the happiest time in my elementary life. But there came the bad news when I was in the third grade in junior high school, Mom asked me to stop playing the piano. She thought that I should study hard for my exams. Though I wanted to continue the piano lessons very much, I still obeyed Mom’s words.

I continued playing the piano until the first summer vacation at university. When I met my piano teacher then, I was so happy and excited. We chatted a while, and then we started our class. To pass the fifth level examination in October was our target. I think it was a little hard for me in a short time. My teacher said she thought I could do it. So, I practiced the items for the test very hard. But I didn’t pass the examination at last. Though I didn’t pass the examination, I wasn’t sad. I thought I had prepared it very hard and I had done my best. Though I didn’t do very well on this examination, I don’t want to give up. I will keep practicing in this winter vacation. I loved piano so much and I don’t want to give in. I will prove that I can do it very well.
