My Two Cousins

I have two little girl cousins. They are Winnie and Jenny. Jenny is two years younger than Winnie. Although they all grow up with grandparents, they are totally different in their appearances, characters, and hobbies.

First, they have very different looks. Winnie is strong and has short hair. Most old folks consider that children need to have a chubby face. There is no exception to Winnie’s grandmother who always fed Winnie a great quantity of food each meal. That’s why her body looks round. And she sweats easily, so having short hair is more convenient to her. By contrast, Jenny is thin and has long hair. By the experience from her sister, many relatives told her grandmother not to feed her too much because it’s not healthy. So Jenny was fed less by her grandma and thus has a slim shape. People who don’t know them can’t imagine that the two girls are sisters due to their apparently dissimilar looks.

Their characteristics are also distinctive. The elder sister is gentle and obedient. As the grandmother is a traditional person, she thinks girls need to do housework and the elder child should take care of the younger siblings. Therefore, poor Winnie had to learn to wash dishes, clean the floor, and do other housework when she was seven. On the contrary, Jenny is spoiled and like a princess because she is the youngest child in the family. Moreover, her parents pamper her and Winnie always humors her for her willfulness. I really don’t like her headstrong temper and want to beat her for poor Winnie.

Another dissimilarity between them is their distinguishable hobbies. Winnie likes to read novels and swim. So she studies well and swims well. Conversely, the other one loves watching television and eat. The strange and funny thing is that Winnie loves doing exercise but she can’t become thin. Jenny likes to eat cookies and junk foods but she doesn’t gain much weight.

In sum, although both girls grew up in the same place, same family, and with same lifestyle, they show completely different features, personalities, and interests. Winnie is more popular and elder cousins like to play with her; however, Jenny is not so adored by her elder siblings because of her personality.
