Transportation for Going to Chinese Culture University

Blythe

People can take different kinds of transportation when they go to Chinese Culture University. For example, some people drive cars, ride motorcycles, or take buses; others can take taxis. Most CCU students go to school by taking one of the above transportation means in different situations according to their needs and financial conditions.

Some students ride motorcycles to school. They can ride motorcycles from CCU to Jiantan anytime without getting stuck in the traffic jam. They can also eat late night snacks in Shihlin Night Market easily. Riding the motorcycle, they can get around the traffic jam during Yangminshan National Park Flora Festival or on the morning when old folks go hiking in Yangminshan mountain. In addition, if students can’t catch the last R5 bus in time, they can ask their friends to pick them up by motorcycle. Riding motorcycles is very convenient for CCU students. On the other hand, the motorcycle riding can be dangerous on a rainy day. Riders should pay attention to their speed. Otherwise, they will get a speeding ticket. Even worse, they may get into traffic accidents.

It costs 60 dollars to take taxis to go up or down Yangminshan. Taking the taxis may be expensive, but students don’t have to wait long time for the bus, and can have a seat, not standing jam-packed carrying baggage. If students are too tired, urgent to go to school or have baggage, and they are rich enough, they may take the taxi by sharing a ride with others. For example, they become very tired because of going shopping or going mountain climbing all day; they are being late for the midterm or the final exam; they must rush to work after school; they carry heavy baggage during the beginning the school year. However, few take taxis every day except the rich ones.

Most students go to school by bus on an ordinary day and they just need to spend 12 dollars from Jiantan to CCU. If they take the MRT and then take the bus, they spend only 6 dollars to get up to the campus. Taking buses is not only much cheaper than taking taxis, but also safer. Taking buses to go to CCU in a good road condition takes about 20 minutes and it takes about 40 to50 minutes if there is much traffic. It is not slow. However, students may have to wait in line for 5 to 20 minutes. And they always don’t have seats. They have to stand in the crowded bus for one to two hours during the Flora Festival, getting stuck in the middle of Yangde Avenue, the only main road to Yangminshan and CCU.

In conclusion, the three types of transportation have some advantages and disadvantages, and students can choose the best one to get to school according to their economic conditions as well as needs. Riding motorcycles can save students much time and is convenient for them to go everywhere anytime, and they can take taxis when they have heavy baggage or in an urgent situation. Although bus riding is likely to be involved in the traffic congestion, it is economical for regular commuters. I prefer to take buses, for it is safe, cheap, and convenient.
