A Healthy Change

Joe Su

Obesity is the commonest problem to people who live in the modern society; therefore, weight loss is a nightmare to those people who try to get rid of unnecessary fat and keep a slim body. Keeping a healthy body is a very important thing because obesity might cause different kinds of diseases, including heart attack, myocardial infarctions, and hypertension. But obesity does not just occur to fat guys, but also thin people; actually, it relates to excessive fat in blood vessels. The fat which stores in the body couldn't be consumed. Eventually, it results in a chronic disease named obesity. Most weight on our body is from carbohydrates we eat, especially those cakes, cookies, and bread. We really take in too many calories from those delicacies. We must change our concept about eating and drinking to make our body healthier.

The first principle is developing our habit of eating right food instead of unbeneficial food. Right food means only eating the good carbohydrates from fruit, vegetables, and cereal, not those bad carbohydrates from processed food. Although most weight on my body consists of extra carbohydrates, carbohydrates are also an important source of energy to my physical function. In fact, I still eat as much as before, but I choosenutritious food rather high-calorie food.

The second principle is a continued exercise which helps me keep a slim, and healthy body. And, the key point is that continued exercise helps me burn out bad cholesterol in my body. According to the suggestion from the doctor, I practice an exercise named 333. It means that I choose three days to exercise among one week; every exercise time must exceed than 30 minutes, and heartbeat rate must exceed over 130 times per min. The third principle is regular hours. I keep regular hours to reduce my fatigue which comes from my busy life. It is useful for me to control my emotion and release my stress.

After several weeks, I changed my lifestyle for improving my health. As I mentioned before, the critical point is related to my habit of diet. I refuse eating processed food and fast food because they contain plenty of bad cholesterol which might lead to vascular obstruction, for the reason that the vascular obstruction is usually the main cause of cardiovascular disease. The truth is that those junk foods are the main cause of cardiovascular disease, and those processed foods are neither nutritious nor economical. In the past, I took eating junk foods for granted. Finally, I stay away from junk foods, and I fall in love with vegetables and cereal. If I still stay in the past condition eating those so-called television foods, including fried chicken, pizza, and coke, I am afraid that I will have to afford large medical expenses in my old age. Now, I choose food carefully, exercise regularly, and sleep adequately every day. I am more self-confident about my health than before.
