This Teriyaki Salmon recipe offers a delightful balance of sweet and savory flavors, making it a perfect choice for a quick and healthy dinner. The homemade marinade infuses the salmon with rich taste, and broiling ensures a crispy exterior while keeping the inside tender. Ideal for weeknight meals, it pairs wonderfully with steamed rice and sautéed vegetables.
¼ cup sesame oil
¼ cup lemon juice
¼ cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar (or more to taste)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1 teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
4 (6-ounce) salmon steaks
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine sesame oil, lemon juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame seeds, ground mustard, ginger, and garlic powder. Bring to a simmer, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Set aside ½ cup of the marinade for basting.
Place the remaining marinade in a resealable plastic bag. Add the salmon steaks, ensuring they are well-coated. Seal the bag, removing excess air, and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours.
Preheat the oven's broiler and position an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source.
Broil the salmon steaks for 5 minutes, basting with the reserved marinade. Turn the salmon over and continue broiling until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork, about 5 more minutes. Baste again before serving.
