Simply prepare it the night before, refrigerate, and bake in the morning for a warm, hearty breakfast that’s both delicious and effortless. It’s an ideal dish for feeding a crowd or enjoying a comforting meal with family.
Ingredients:
6 large croissants, torn into bite-sized pieces
1 pound breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
8 large eggs
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup chopped green onions (optional)
Directions:
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place torn croissant pieces evenly in the dish.
Sprinkle the cooked sausage over the croissants, followed by shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green onions if using.
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, dry mustard, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the croissant layers, pressing down gently to soak all pieces.
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (or at least 6 hours).
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the casserole from the fridge and bake uncovered for 45-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the eggs are set.
Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
