½ teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup beef broth (or stock)
⅔ cup balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar (light or dark)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Optional: 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
Prepare the Roast: Place the chuck roast in a 5-quart slow cooker. Sprinkle the roast evenly with kosher salt.

Cook: Pour the sauce mixture over the roast in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours, or until the beef is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
Shred the Beef: Remove the roast from the slow cooker and shred the meat using two forks. Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and stir to combine with the sauce.
Serve: Let the shredded beef cook in the sauce for an additional 30 to 60 minutes on LOW to absorb the flavors. Serve the balsamic beef over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
