These juicy Lebanese-style Kafta Kebabs from Sweet and Savoury Pursuits are a flavorful blend of lean ground beef, fresh parsley, onion, and Middle Eastern spices. Ready in under 30 minutes, these kebabs are shaped onto skewers and grilled (or baked) until golden and tender. They’re naturally gluten-free, low in carbs, and high in protein—perfect alongside hummus, pita, or fresh salad for a balanced, satisfying meal. Simple ingredients and big flavor are the hallmarks of this crowd-pleasing recipe.
For the Kafta:
600 g lean ground beef
1 medium yellow onion, quartered
1 cup fresh parsley, washed and dried
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
⅛ tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
¼ tsp seven‑spice blend (or allspice substitute)
Preheat grill or oven. If using skewers, soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes.
Pulse onion and parsley in a food processor until finely chopped.
In a mixing bowl, combine chopped onion–parsley mixture, ground beef, salt, pepper, cayenne, and seven spice. Mix thoroughly—ideally with your hands—for even flavor.
Form about 100–120 g of the mixture around each skewer, pressing to 1–1.5 inch thickness. If not using skewers, shape into oval or round patties.
Grill over medium-high heat ~4 min per side until cooked through (internal temp around 160 °F). Alternatively, bake in a 375 °F oven for 15–20 min.
Serve hot with pita, yogurt sauce, salads, or dips like hummus or tahini.
