Dynamite Shrimp is a bold and flavorful appetizer that packs a punch with its crispy battered shrimp and creamy, spicy sauce. Popular in Asian-fusion cuisine, this dish combines sweet heat and crunch for an irresistible bite that's perfect for parties or as a starter to your favorite meal.
Ingredients:
For the Shrimp:
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup cornstarch
Vegetable oil, for frying
For the Sauce:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon honey (optional, for added sweetness)
Directions:
In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey. Mix well and set aside in the refrigerator.
Place the cleaned shrimp in a bowl with the buttermilk and toss to coat evenly.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat until hot (about 350°F or 175°C).
Dredge the shrimp in cornstarch, coating each piece thoroughly.
Fry the shrimp in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan.
Remove the shrimp and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
Once slightly cooled, toss the fried shrimp in the prepared spicy sauce until coated.
Serve immediately, garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
