Ingredients:
For the Bread Pudding:
6 cups day-old bread, cut into cubes
4 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
For the Vanilla Sauce:
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 large egg yolks
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Place bread cubes in the prepared baking dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread cubes, pressing down gently to soak the bread. Let sit for 10-15 minutes.
Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
For the vanilla sauce, heat milk, cream, and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until just simmering.
In a bowl, whisk egg yolks. Slowly pour some of the hot milk mixture into the yolks while whisking to temper.
Pour the yolk mixture back into the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thickened (do not boil). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
Serve the bread pudding warm, drizzled with vanilla sauce.
